12 SETTEMBRE: FESTA DELLA CONGREGAZIONE - September 12, the Holy Name of Mary, is our titular feast as Oblates of the Virgin Mary
12/09/2017 - Today, September 12, the Holy Name of Mary, is our titular feast as Oblates of the Virgin Mary, the key liturgical celebration for us as a Congregation.
“In dangers, in hardships, in every doubt, think of Mary, call out to Mary.” St. Bernard, Office of Readings
From Begin Again:
Oblate Fr. Antonio Ferrero, Bruno’s confessor in his last illness, wrote: “He loved the Virgin Mary deeply, and surrounded himself with images of her. He kept a precious collection of books that speak of her, and read from them for a few hours every week. He celebrated her novenas, and spoke very often about her. He said that it was not enough simply to inspire devotion for her in others, but that it was necessary to lead them to a great confidence in her. Whenever the Exercises were given, he wanted a talk preached on her. He spoke of her as his mother, as the one who nurtured him, and as his paradise.”
In Mary, Bruno found the feminine tenderness taken too soon from him as a child. In her, he found warmth, gentleness, and hope. Mary was his mother, his lady, his model, the teacher and principal foundress of the Oblates.
